I hope you had a lovely long weekend. Years 7-10 are working from home today, using our well-established suite of apps to continue their learning. Our staff are working with Year 11 students in the final weeks before their external exams begin. All students are expected to attend on Wednesday as normal in full uniform from 8.15 for free breakfast. Arrangements for today are here.
I’d like to apologise for the glitch in our text message system on Friday. We are reviewing this system which I think is a bit archaic and looking to put in a better, more streamlined system for September which gives parents full access to their child’s records via a mobile app and also provides notifications too.
We’re very much looking forward to the King’s Coronation next week and will be having coronation-themed decorations and food in the Refectory. It was brilliant to see our CCF leading the community event in the Jewellery Quarter to celebrate the King’s Coronation on Saturday, raising money for the Turkey/Syria earthquake appeal. Assemblies this week will focus on our connections within the JQ community and all the opportunities our community gives us that we should respect.
Our five shiniest gems will be taking their Golden Table reward on Friday: lunch at the 24 Carat Bistro – a Caribbean restaurant on Warstone Lane in the heart of the JQ.
A reminder that we have another Bank Holiday on Monday next week to mark the King’s Coronation and we look forward to seeing all our students on Tuesday 9th May 2023 before 8.30.
As always, you can call the Academy on 0121 729 7220, leaving a message if the line is busy and we will get back to you. Our line is very busy in the daytime so I encourage parents to use the voicemail facility by pressing option 2. If you would like urgent support, you can always reach Mr Bibb (our Designated Safeguarding Lead) on option 4.
